COMET government grant to commercialise water based
aerosol paint technology

In order to encourage commercialisation of promising
new technology, the Australian government department
for support of industry (Ausindustry) initiated a
program called COMET (Commercialisation Of Emerging
Technology).
After an initial screening process a government
industry adviser is assigned to the applicant to
asses the technical merit, company viability, staff
capability, market demand and ensure a competent
strategic plan has been laid out.
The potential benefit to the Australian economy and
the obvious social benefit in reducing solvent abuse
amongst our youth was also taken into account by
Ausindustry and a COMET grant was formally awarded
to Can-Tek in September 2009.
Amongst other things the grant will pay for patents
to secure the technology and legal contracts for
partnerships and joint ventures with paint companies
and aerosol manufacturers worldwide.
Bob Beaumont was assigned to Can-Tek in July 2009 as
an industry adviser as part of the COMET grant
process and continues to set the strategic direction.
